RTU Retail Telephone Unit: a new level of communication

19 January 2023

The company has introduced a new version of its flagship solution. The  RTU Retail Telephone Unit (RTU) UC platform has many successful implementations, and its effectiveness is confirmed by the largest domestic enterprises. Among them are FSUE Rosmorport, PJSC Transneft, PJSC Rosseti, as well as the Federal Tax Service of Russia and the Ministry of Construction of Russia, where the platform provides corporate telephone communication. The current version of RTU includes a new web client with telephony, messenger and personal account functions, as well as a number of other updates.

The RTU Unified Communications platform is a multi–component solution that is used for various types of corporate communications. The list of platform options includes voice assistants and chatbots, a messenger for various types of online communication, a mobile application, a platform for online events and other tools. This multifunctionality maximizes the scope of RTU applications, due to the fact that the platform is quickly integrated into the IT infrastructure of the business. In addition, this development makes it possible to modernize telephone communication networks while maintaining stable communications.

The new version of RTU includes a web client with telephony, messenger and personal account functions for managing service settings. The list of updated functionality includes options such as synchronizing the address book with the mouth, the ability to make and receive calls directly in browsers that support WebRTC technology (allows Web applications and sites to exchange data between browsers, without using third-party resources), the ability to organize audio and video conferences.

In addition, the updated solution provides the exchange of text messages and files, including in group chats. At the same time, the chats themselves have improved functionality: quoting, mentioning other participants, editing and deleting messages. In the new RTU modification, you can manage the presence status, provide guest access to calls and chats via a link, install applications directly from the browser using PWA technology, as well as manage redirects, black and white lists, and voicemail.

The current version of the RTU still supports the FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) function, which turns a mobile phone into a full-fledged office telephone with a short number, free communication within the company and call forwarding from a multi-channel corporate number. The network of any mobile operator is suitable as a reference. Such a corporate SIM card provides the capabilities of a virtual PBX on a mobile network. All employees, both office and mobile, are together in a single communication space.

«Domestic platforms for corporate communication have long been able to compete with foreign solutions, without loss of communication quality, functionality, while protecting internal and external data," said Roman Romanov, head of the SATEL Software Development Center. – I am sure that the new version of RTU will be even more in demand due to the expanded functionality».
